Meagan and Jeff’s Engagement Portrait Session in Fort Worth and Dallas

Photographing engagement portrait sessions is exciting and always filled with emotion, but never more so than when the engagement photographer and the bride-to-be are also mother and daughter. Our youngest daughter Meagan and Jeff both live in Dallas, but Meagan was born in Fort Worth. Knowing that Meagan still has a special place in her…

Spruce Haley - Love the photos and this beautiful girl. Okay, I know both the bride and her mom but still the photos are beautiful. But how could they not be.

Meredith and Charles’ Engagement Portrait Session at Oak Grove Lake Park

Yes, I was there specifically to photograph their engagement portrait session, but for Meredith and Charles, it would turn out to be just another fun afternoon at the park. Let me explain. WhenMeredith and Charles first arrived at Oak Grove Lake Park in Chesapeake, we talked at length about their expectations for the session. They…

Lauren and Nick’s Engagement Portrait Session in Ghent

It was always important to Lauren that their engagement portrait session include Nick in uniform. She is so very proud of him and his service to our country and the US Navy. We all agreed that the battleship Wisconsin at Nauticus in downtown Norfolk would make the perfect backdrop for the two of them…and it did!

With the late afternoon sun quickly beginning to drift toward dusk, we decided to photograph something a bit more casual…and to have some more fun! I really enjoy a creative photography challenge, so I chose the railroad tracks in Ghent to capture Lauren and Nick…

Michele and Ron’s Engagement Portrait Session at Sandbridge Beach

It all begins when family and friends open the envelope and first see those three little words…‘Save the Date’.

From that point forward, they all become part of an emotional and exciting journey that concludes with the marriage of two very special people.

We chose Little Island Park and Fishing Pier at Sandbridge Beach in Virginia Beach for Michele and Ron’s engagement portrait session. The beach, the light and the water were all perfect…

Dedra and Mike’s Engagement Portrait Session at Yorktown Beach

As a wedding photographer, you constantly search for the perfect location for that perfect couple and, with time, you always seem to find it. But occasionally, the perfect location simply finds you first. Dedra and Mike had chosen the Yorktown Freight Shed at Riverwalk Landing for their wedding and reception. The area also turned out to be a fabulous setting for their engagement portrait session. Located on a mile long pedestrian walkway weaving…

Ashley and Jared’s Engagement Portrait Session on the beach in Virginia Beach

This is a classic story of two people finding true love in the last place either of them might have expected. Growing up as members of two families who were long time friends, Ashley and Jared were also long time friends. But fate has a funny way of opening the heart. Ashley and Jared started dating while they were in Virginia Beach and soon fell in love. Because of that personal connection with Virginia Beach, it was an easy decision for them to return…

Karen and Steve’s Engagement Portrait Session at First Landing State Park

Someone knows someone, who knows someone else, who knows someone else who knows someone…well, you get the idea. The term is ‘six degrees of separation‘ and it was just such a client referral that brought Karen and Steve together with Oak Moon Photography to capture their incredible engagement portrait images. Knowing that Karen and Steve enjoy the beach, I recommended First Landing State Park in Virginia Beach. We met late on…

Staci and Christopher’s Engagement Portrait Session at Red Wing Park

As an engagement photographer, I encourage all my couples to be intimately involved in planning their engagement portrait session. While most rely solely on me to identify unique locations and to create flattering setups, some have a very clear vision for their engagement photographs…and that was Staci and Christopher. My experience has taught me to simply follow the instincts of those couples and then be prepared to capture lots of really amazing…

Ashley and Michael’s Engagement Portrait Session in Virginia Beach

We originally scheduled Ashley and Michael’s engagement portrait session for The Town Center of Virginia Beach but snow fell throughout the entire day that Saturday. As most anyone in Virginia Beach will tell you, it is next to impossible to predict the winter weather here. So when the skies unexpectedly cleared the following day, we quickly decided to take advantage of the crystal clear, but very cold, weather and photograph them in the beautiful late…

Paige McLaughlin - You and your husband are sure a good team! The engagement photos are amazing. Michael and Ashley’s wedding was the best photography experience I have ever had as a bride or wedding party member, as the mother of the bride/groom, or even senior photos. The wedding was so well covered. Everyone was very comfortable with both of you. No shot was turned away or missed. I have heard nothing but good things about the photography experience. The most difficult part is how to choose! If you ever need written or phone referrals, please feel free to hit me up!
