I am finally taking time to get caught up online! You would never know by following my blog posts that it was actually a very busy winter season for Oak Moon Photography.
I participated in two exquisite bridal shows where I had the pleasure of personally meeting with countless beautiful brides to be. As a wedding photographer, it was so much fun to share my portrait and wedding album samples with so many future brides and to learn more about the special memories each of them were excited about capturing on their wedding day.
Bridal and engagement portrait sessions also kept me very busy as well. We originally scheduled Ashley and Michael’s engagement portrait session for The Town Center of Virginia Beach but snow fell throughout the entire day that Saturday. As most anyone in Virginia Beach will tell you, it is next to impossible to predict the winter weather here. So when the skies unexpectedly cleared the following day, we quickly decided to take advantage of the crystal clear, but very cold, weather and photograph them in the beautiful late afternoon light.
Ashley and Michael are getting married in a just few weeks and I cannot tell you how much I am looking forward to photographing their wedding. But until then, you can click the thumbnails below to see a few of my favorite images from their engagement portrait session…

You and your husband are sure a good team! The engagement photos are amazing. Michael and Ashley’s wedding was the best photography experience I have ever had as a bride or wedding party member, as the mother of the bride/groom, or even senior photos. The wedding was so well covered. Everyone was very comfortable with both of you. No shot was turned away or missed. I have heard nothing but good things about the photography experience. The most difficult part is how to choose! If you ever need written or phone referrals, please feel free to hit me up!
The Christmas trees in the Dominion Christian Center in Virginia Beach provided a seasonal backdrop for Jenna and Ralph’s December wedding. It was exciting to photograph a beautiful winter wedding combined with a taste of holiday tradition.
It has been my experience as a wedding photographer that almost anything can happen on the day of the wedding. Whether something truly silly or something a little more serious, the wedding day will be just that much more special if the bride and groom are able to keep these kinds of distractions in perspective. Yes, Jenna and Ralph’s wedding ceremony started a few minutes late, but they were determined that nothing would detract from the celebration of their marriage and it was a wonderful day!

I could hardly wait to photograph Amanda and Jared’s wedding. From the time the bride and groom arrived at St John the Apostle Catholic Church in Virginia Beach, it was obvious they had an energy and excitement that would set the tone for the entire wedding ceremony. Amanda was beautiful, poised and she had a smile she could not get off her face. Jared was confident, relaxed and…well, just being Jared. They were both clearly excited about getting married.
It is so much fun to see how happy Amanda and Jared were at their wedding as I look back through all the pictures I captured that day. They truly enjoyed the celebration of their marriage…and so did I.
